Security Authorization for Amazon Web Services

Kudos to Amazon’s cloud services company, Amazon Web Services, for receiving a security authorization that will allow it to work with all agencies within the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

The authorization recognizes AWS Cloud as a secure, compliant environment to run DoD workloads, which means that more DoD agencies can now use AWS’s infrastructure for certain projects such as public-facing websites or open data sets that don’t require DoD’s internal data centers. The company had already been working with DoD agencies such as the Navy and the Air Force.

“Today, more than 600 government agencies use AWS services, and we look forward to continuing to demonstrate the security and reliability of the AWS Cloud so that an even broader set of DoD customers can use our services to reduce costs and innovate for their missions,” said Teresa Carlson, AWS’s vice president for the public sector.
