City Innovate: Drives COVID-19 Vaccine Procurement
City Innovate recognized by State Of California for streamlining procurement of the CalVax Covid-19 Vaccine Distribution System.
City Innovate, the company helping government CIOs and agency leaders improve their contracting and procurement processes, was recently recognized in California’s Department of Technology 2020 Annual Report for their help in procuring a vendor for California’s Covid-19 Vaccine Distribution System.
The end-to-end process from problem statement to contract execution took only 35 days. California’s Department of Technology said normal procurement efforts of this scope could take as long as 12 months.
Late in 2020, California was faced with a challenge to find a way to manage the distribution and administration of the recently approved Covid-19 vaccines. With the help of City Innovate, they approached this challenge with a Request for Information (RFI) challenge-based procurement process. The end-to-end process from problem statement to contract execution took only 35 days. The state said normal procurement efforts of this scope could take as long as 12 months.
In addition to speed, the procurement approach also encouraged vendors to use off-the-shelf technology that could be customized for the state to cut down on development time for the solution.
MyCAVax, formerly known as CalVax, went live in California in January 2021 and is currently managing vaccine distributions for the state’s 40 million residents. You can find more information about City Innovate on their website here.
