NYC Shares Procurement Data

New York City has joined more than 2,200 other cities, states, counties, school districts and federal agencies in using our portfolio company SmartProcure.

New York City has joined more than 2,200 other cities, states, counties, school districts and federal agencies in using our portfolio company SmartProcure – a database of 58 million government agency purchase orders.

SmartProcure provides participating government agencies with access to the database at no cost. That allows them to quickly compare prices and find new vendors.

…save more than $100 million a year.

“If the country’s largest city can use the service to cut its procurement costs by just 1 percent, it would save more than $100 million a year”, said Ari Hoffnung, NYC deputy comptroller of budget and public affairs.

The benefits of having NYC in the database extend beyond the Big Apple. Adding in New York City’s purchase order information – the city has an $11 billion contracts budget – significantly boosts the data available to other users of the database.
